Case Study 1 - Product Development
A global multi-national logistics company was struggling with a new system development project (coding in VB.net) which had become a resource drain. The project was ongoing for many months without any end in sight and the management had completely given up hope for project to get completed. There was no confidence in the financial numbers churned out from the system and there was a big question mark on data integrity, reliability and performance. The problem was compounded further due to limited documentation and project governance issues. In a fast growing and changing business environment, the management was extremely keen to get return on investment besides having a scalable & robust product for the future to provide better yield management & reporting capabilities.

Case Study 2 - IT Strategy Formulation
A global multi-national container shipping company based out of Mumbai engaged Absortio to compile a forward looking IT strategy to support business growth. With business growing at a rapid pace, the legacy IT setup was seen as an impediment. Absortio was given a mandate to undertake following actions:

- Undertake comprehensive review of IT services portfolio (products & processes) across all offices in India North West. Aim was to identify gaps / vulnerabilities and recommend   corrective actions by defining a strategic roadmap.
- Define an IT governance framework and policies to be adopted at an operational level.
- Document key standard operating procedures (SOPs) to establish auditable controls for all hardware and software.
- Review existing supplier and vendor contracts and recommend changes where necessary.
- Help recruit an IT Manager.
- Increase visibility of local IT team actions to ensure right business perceptions.

Absortio consultants collaborated with business management to understand their concerns. A dip stick study was undertaken with each business function and an internal survey was conducted to capture business concerns and future expectations. This was followed by a thorough review of the entire IT landscape by undertaking location visits across all offices in India. Existing vendor relationships were reviewed and contracted service conditions were checked. As a trusted advisor, Absortio delivered all the mandated requirements by compiling an IT strategy, formalized IT organization setup, defined job roles and reporting lines, defined IT policies, helped empanel new vendors for IT service delivery and finally completed the assignment by recruiting an IT Head.
